A.J. Schmidt Elementary Proves Small Change, Big Hearts!
ANGOLA, NY – The A.J. Schmidt Elementary community has demonstrated that a big heart knows no age. District officials announced today that AJS students, staff, and families raised an incredible $285.60 during their recent "Jar Wars" event, contributing powerfully to a monumental district-wide total of $21,958 for Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center.
The "Jar Wars" initiative served as the elementary-level counterpart to Lake Shore’s beloved Bald for Bucks campaign. While older students and staff across the district opted for the signature shave to raise funds, A.J. Schmidt’s Eagles proved that spare change can create a mighty impact. By filling classroom jars with nickels, dimes, and quarters, the AJS community turned everyday coins into critical funding for Roswell Park.
A Tradition of Giving, 24 Years and Counting
This year’s success holds a profound meaning, as Bald for Bucks was founded right here at Lake Shore 24 years ago. A.J. Schmidt Elementary continues to carry this torch of community service and hometown pride, inspiring the entire district with their commitment.
Fueling Critical Cancer Research
The $285.60 raised by A.J. Schmidt will go directly toward life-saving research and compassionate patient care at Roswell Park. The district’s total collection of $21,958 marks a near-record year, proving that the spirit of giving and "Eagle Pride" in the Lake Shore Central School District remains stronger than ever.
A.J. Schmidt Impact: The building raised $285.60 in spare change, helping the District reach a grand total of nearly $22,000 for Roswell Park!
